it has just been announced that the asian hornet has been spotted in Cornwall.
Coincidentally, I was talking to a bee keeper a few days ago and he expressed his biggest fear was the arrival of the asian hornet. More devastating than veroa mite or chemical sprays.
Yet anothet threat to our way of living :love30:

All the more reason to unzip Cornwall and let it float off into the beyond, and you can take all the nasty foreign insects with you. :dancy:.....:loll:

I tried moving the sedum stem to get a better photo of the hornet but as I had disturbed it it decided to buzz off so to speak:biggrin:

Thankfully haven’t seen any sign of this Asian Hornet yet although this morning I had a queen wasp buzzing around in my conservatory so I soon booted it out with my feather duster:snorky:

Welcome to my world.... Two types of hornet (and yes, Loofah, the Asian ones are very vicious), three types of wasp, termites, palm moths, tiger mosquitoes, Cossus cossus (a moth whose larvae eat your trees from the inside out), great big vine weevil lookalikes in the compost, mole crickets and wild boar.
