Now I know most off you can ID this tree from 100 yards with one eye closed and standing on one leg . But I must admit that for a gardener ( allegedly )my tree identification is an embarrassment. I have tried the Natural History Museum tree ID site which is really good , but defeated me this time.
    http://www.nhm.ac.uk/nature-online/...-tree-survey/identify-trees/tree-key/#tree-s1
The tree is about 24 feet tall.
The leaves are toothed and grow alternate from the stem. Is it a type off lime ?
    TIA

Thanks Beckie , the Clematis is 'Mrs Cholmondeley' , lovely big flowers . Usually more showy than that.
Thanks Ziggy and Woo , it does look like a Victoria Plum Tree. Why don't I get plums on it ? Or is that a stupid question

Whoa Harry...Your tree does look a Plum tree.

However, not all plum trees are Victoria.
There are several others it could be and without evidence of plums which one it is, will remain a mystery for now. See 3rd link for a few mentioned by the RHS
There are damsons and Greengages as well.
Cooking plums and eating plums, purple skins fruit and yellow skinned fruits.

              Damson leaf...

It does look like a plum, it's unusual to see them getting so tall. It's a mystery why there is no fruit, has it flowered this spring?

                  Thanks @Silver surfer @JWK @wiseowl @Zigs , for the usual invaluable information ! :dbgrtmb:
The tree flowers profusely every spring , but no fruit off any sort is produced . Could it be some kind of Mock Plum Tree ? If such a thing exists.
I will mark it on my Excel garden plan as "Plum Tree X" . Possibly a good thing it does not fruit as there would be a huge amount from a tree that size ! I love plums but a tonne of them may be too much !
