I have lots of ants all over my grass areas (can't call them 'lawns') and under decking. Is there any liquid deterrent available to spray over large areas? Ant powder applied to ground doesn't seem to have any effect and it comes expensive in the quantities I need it! They are making the grass very unsightly with their lumpy hills, which get scalped when the mower goes over them.

Surface spraying won't so much good, I'm afraid; you need to destroy those nests. Jeyes Fluid claims to be able to do that if you pour it neat into the nest and it's useful for many other purposes. Worth a shot?

Dont even think of using jeyes fluid, it will kill the grass. There are no real solutions for ants.
