Hi,I have just been given an Anthurium for my birthday but have no idea how to look after it or where to site it.
I have a South West facing window which I succesfully grow Orchids and Cyclamen on which just gets a bit of direct sunlight late in the day.
    Would this be ok ?
Any general growing tips would be appreciated,Thanks,Dan

Once they finish flowering they are very hard to get to flower again! best in a conservatory.

I bought an anthurium last March for my mother from the garden centre. It was in flower when i bought it, i repotted it into a larger container in multi purpose compost and it hasent flowered since. Yes they are very hard to get to flower again, plants will only flower when they have to as it uses up a lot of energy in doing so. I AM GOING TO TRY repotting ina smaller container to restrict the roots and using a different growing media.

Try shoving it into the fridge for a couple of weeks. It works like cold stratification for seeds. When it comes out, it thinks it's spring and may kick in again. The only problem is hitting the happy balance between.....'This is spring' and killing it with cold. But get it right and it works. I suggest 2 or 3 weeks.

I had one overwintered it in the g/house last year it did flower again, this winter put it in the p/tunnel I have a little caboos I built in there with a tube heater in, alas a couple of nights the heater couldn't cope with the cold and now its brown bread, the plant that is.
