Ants farming aphids

Ive had a problem with this for years now and its so hard to keep on top of it. Over the years ive tried pouring boiling water in the ant hills, tried washing liquid and water solution on the plants, last year i resorted to using a powdered poison to kill the ants which worked somewhat but i dont want to keep using it as i have dogs and kids.
This year ive tried vaseline around the base of my climbing rose (gets the worst of it) but theyre not deterred
Every morning and evening im out there crushing the aphids that smother the new growth, i hate them and dunno what to do

 

Boil some REALLY strong coffee or black tea. Let it cool, put into a sprayer and spray away on all the aphids.
The caffeine was "invented" by those plants to do exactly that job - killing things that nibble on them

PS: Also works with tobacco, but stinks a lot more

If use tobacco the active ingredient is surely nicotine and pretty poisonous stuff.
