    ....my emergency pethidine tablet.

In absolute agony! Tried hot bath, heat patches, naproxen, paracetamol, ibuprofen, dihydrocodeine (not all together) and buscopan. I think the pain keeps triggering off migraines. Fed up. Going to get a tens machine tomorrow. Any one else suffer with trapped nerves and got any tips???

Try and rest in a comfy position for as long as it takes,i avoid naproxen because of heart risk problems it states in side affects, ibup is a decent anti inflam and does help me but i didnt read the paperwork.
I had an injection once but that only seemed to numb my butt cheek! so i find rest as much as i hate that to be the best,i need to relax as tensing muscles just feeds the problem x

My sciatica was unbearable and started after a whiplash injury, so much so I was unable to walk. I had spinal injections that worked for a while, but ended up with a hip replacement op.
There is no stopping me now :yay:

My son in law used to suffer badly with nerve pain.. he had a shattered vertebrae with a bone spur and it was rubbing on the main nerve in his spinal column. He had to wait till he couldn't feel his legs or feet before they operated and removed the spur.. he will have to go through it again at some point in the future as the spur is regrowing.. he still works at an outdoor job and He swears by the stretching positions of Yoga for backs, a Chiropractor and swimming and of course the inevitable pain pills..
I also do some yoga for stretching.. see if you can get into a session near you.. I go most weeks to mine..

Hi @Snorky85 Mrs Shiney here. Sciatic pain responds to a Bowen therapy treatment (which I do). It is gentle and involves releasing the muscle that has gone into spasm around the sciatic nerve. Since I can't do this long distance, here is my advice.

          1. Do the Alexander Technique lying down exercise. Video here:

          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iehtr8X3qMc

The mantra when thinking of the back is: My spine is lengthening, my neck is free-ing.

You will see loads more Alexander Technique videos to watch…….. when you have time.

Meanwhile do the above twice a day for at least 10 -15 minutes…….

          2. Get some Arnica and Rhus Tox (homoeopathic remedies) from health shop and take according to instructions. I do make an "injury combination" which I can let you have when you come to Open Day. Also get some Rescue Remedy which is a tiny dropper bottle of tincture to which has been added the extract of five flowers. This is a great remedy for when your equilibrium needs calming down.

          3. Stand and allow your arms to dangle by your side. Note where your middle finger touches your outer leg. Hold that point while you sit down. Then use finger pressure on that spot (which will be VERY tender) for a minute. Do both sides. Repeat this as often as you have time.

          Wishing you loads better.
