Beech Tree!! There's a 60ft+ monster at the bottom of my garden.
I kills the light for me and 4 neighbours. I have a 20ft quadrant where only the most resilient plants survive.
The roots get everywhere and the soil is bone dry.
We had our side hacked back this year - the Gooseberries fruited for the first time (they've been in 8 years) and more of the border saw light and benefited by improved flowering.
I'd love to take a saw to it, but it's not mine - and its probably got a preservation order on it as well.

I HATE BEECH TREES - even more than Roses.

It's a beech, they ain't that bad gcc3663. I've got some lovely beech hedges, and most of my neighbours do too, they do look nice freshly clipped.
