Any ideas what this shrub/tree is?

I have this tree or shrub in my garden. I'm not sure what it is but it has amazing scented white flowers. I wondered if anyone can tell me what it is?

Looks like Osmanthus x burkwoodii, mine is starting to flower now.

 

Ah yes that is definitely the one isn't it! It smells amazing. Trouble is whoever planted this in the past has placed it almost on top of another shrub and they are both fighting for the spot. I may take cuttings of one of them and remove it to give it a chance of being able to grow freely!

 

The leaves on Osmanthus 'Burwoodii' have a jagged edge to them and orange branches. Sorry, I haven't got a current picture of the flowers. Your shrub could be a Daphne.

 

I definitely think the Daphne flowers look different to my shrub. I have googled a few images of osmanthus burkwoodii and these photos look identical to my shrub. And the leaves are now always jagged by the looks of this.

 

I've not seen an Osmanthus with smooth edged leaves. Perhaps our expert @Silver surfer can help us identify it properly for you.

 

It looks as though the leaves on Osmanthus x burkwoodii are smoother than those on O. delavayi, one of it's parents which is the only other one widely sold. Oh and O. heterophyllus but it's not that!

 

The leaf edges on Osmanthus x burkwoodii can become smooth as the plant ages. That looks like a mature shrub. Most Daphnes have finished flowering here but there are later flowering varieties. I agree, we need @Silver surfer to the rescue .

 

My Osmanthus is fully grown @Plantminded but has maintained its serrated edged leaves.

 

I’ve just had a close look at mine @Sheal. The vast majority of leaves are serrated but there’s a few smooth edged leaves. My shrub is less than 10 years old. Very strange .

 

I wonder if that is a kind of reversion @Plantminded? I'll take a good look at mine tomorrow and get some pics at the same time - it's in bloom at the moment.
