    This is Monty!
And he is feeling sorry for himself. He had an infected ear last week which is being treated, but now he has no control of his left lower lip,as you might be able to see in the pic is hanging down. Poor fellow dribbles every where and has much trouble eating.
Do any of you have any ideas why this has developed, and could it be a nerve reaction to the infection?

:( What a super chap.... Pal ear & teeth problems often go hand in hand. I would say he has a tooth or gum problem & it could be conected with the ear... Hence the dribbling... I would take him back to the vet & get his mouth checked... Poor little chap.. He looks like any springer... Devoted & ready to go....!!!! ;) Love emily mascarenhassize="1"][ 27. Hi Pal another Springer lover,i am inclined to agree with Marley ,more than likely a gum infection or teeth problem.Worth a check though!
Lots of love to Monty, get well soon boy.

ahhhhhhhhhh poor monty, hope he feels better soon paladin.
here is a strange but true story 4 mths ago my cat was feeling unwell, took him to the vets and on examination he seemed ok but said he will take his temp.then all of a sudden he took the cat and ran into the back room. he said he'll be back.vet then told me sorry must keep cat overnight as the thermometer broke inside his bum. THEY TOLD ME IT WAS ONLY THE TIP THAT BROKE off. it took 3 days to come out and it was half the thermometer not the tip. poor cat we never stop laughing.

Oh, Pal, what a lovely friend there and I would go back to a (not necessarily yours) vet. I was never happy with ours in the UK, Bucks nor IoW, but have total faith in the ones here ... a Dutch owner and three Portugese vets, all female! (Yes, the Dutch one is that way inclined but not the rest!)

Have a second opinion .. we always did in England!
And good luck and cuddles to Monty! [IMG]

I would be inclined to agree with the others too Pal - we took Molly for a booster/check-up and the next day discovered the quite large lump that is now huge (and cancerous :( ) - always will wonder how they missed that!!

    Big cuddle for Montyxxxx

    Fancy....OUCHCHCHCHCH!!

Should have explained that Monty is my brothers dog.I only wish he were mine, but it's not practical for me to have another dog with Mrs Pal being a Childminder, better safe than sorry with rugrats everywhere!
Monty has had a few problems in the past. Two years ago he lost so much weight and the use of his back legs it was touch and go...Then a scan revealed a seed touching his spinal cord,it had travelled through his body from an earlier foot infection.
And he is forever knocking himself about as he races and crashes through hedges etc: as only a Springer can!!
My own dog was a Golden Labrador..she tended to 'Look before leaping', or find the nearest gate :D

They are such nutters, these Springer! One of the diagnosis of Daisy's pneumonia was a seed in her ling - now they think its lungworm - we're treating her for everything to be on the safeside

A bit worrying if he's had a prob before but hopefully nothing to do with that. They are such a worry at time, I sometimes wonder why we have them......then I remember [IMG] [IMG]

[IMG] Oh Pal, a typical springer then!! :D How is Monty this morning?? Is he off his food at all, or at least chewing it..!!?? I know more or less nothing stops them..!!! [IMG] Maybe your brother could check his mouth out. It may be obvious that there is a problem, either way I think I would trot him back to the vets...
:( I know what a problem seeds can be with them... We nearly lost Charley to a seed travelling through his body!! Not sure how it got in.. !! Anyway he had a lump that alerted us!! It was scar tissue luckily where the seed had got stuck against his breast bone & was just rubbing away!!. Thank goodness it was, as the vet said it was on a direct course for his heart... An op' later & he was fine..!! ;) Funny thing was, that dog would do nothing with the lampshade coller on..!!! Not even have a pee!!! Gosh we have some funny memories of that op..!!! :D Anyway, let us know how Monty is doing..!! [IMG]

Bro'says Monty struggles to eat and only eats once a day now, when he must be starving!..The running hasn't decreased and the word'walk' is still spelled out ,not spoken :D (Bet every dog owner knows that only too well!!!)
They had his mouth checked out and were told there may be nerve endings inflamed following the ear infection..but it's a waiting game for now.
He and Sis-i-l just wondered if any other Springer owners had had similar problems..and of course I knew exactly who to ask. They said to say thanks for your suggestions and concern for Monty. [IMG]
    I'll keep you all informed...Nick.

:( As you say, just have to play the waiting game.. Tell Bro' to keep a very good eye on his mouth.. He may need an anti-inflam' shot or more anti-biotics... Poor little chap.. I hope they do sort it out soon!!!! As you say springers are "working" all the time... So burning cals the whole time...!!!! ;) His tummy must be rumbling!!! Get well soon Monty!!! [IMG]

[IMG] Pal, tell your brother that some tooth-ache symptoms are:- Pawing at mouth or nose, or rubbing mouth along the floor. Allot of saliva as well... Licking lips.. Also might whine a bit.... If & I hope not!!!! It is absess forming, tell him to look out for any kind of swelling from the size of a wheat seed upwards, under or around the eye.. Hopefully none of these will occur & he will be ok.... ;) Keep us informed...!!!! Just had a thought - its very unlikely, but my brothers Springer had growths in the roof of his mouth - they turned out to be nasty - he was about 14-15 yrs old then and his age caught up with him :( Sorry, dont mean to alarm but I keep thinking about poor Monty - must be pretty bad if he chooses only to eat once a day :( )
