Ok, so it's not outdoor gardening, but i need some advice for the 2 Orchids i've got in my living room. There not happy at all.

Basically, there full of wood, to be honest its my fault, haven't been giving them the usual tlc they normally get (been too busy outside!... ok, ok that's no excuse)

Are they still alive or.... dare i say it....no, i can't bring myself to.....

Don't know a lot about orchids but they look plenty alive enough to me. Stressing plants often induces them to flower. I would leave them a bit longer then cut out any obvious dead wood but as I say they're not my forte.

There is probably a chance, but its a slim one.
they look dead below the green leaves.
    In other words dieing upwards.
If there are no new roots appearing then I think they've had it
I know they are expensive plants, but I wouldn't bother trying, I'd buy a new one. :(

ok lets see cut the floer stems bak to first eye or second. then get rod of the old leaves. then buy some plant gel. then wash all the medium of the roots be carfull not to brake the roots. place your orchid in the plant gel add some plant gel plant food. and yeah dont keep the orchid in direct sunlight and near a cold place at night like your window. (orchids have fealings to) :D

Thanks for the advice orchid man, however, i have found that the Orchids (when i look after them that is) seem to thrive where they are.

I know they are fussy little buggers as if i have to move them for any reason, even if it's just for a while, they start to look unhappy, then when moved back - as if by magic, there happy again!

I feel very guilty about what i've done to them.
 Do you really think it's worth trying to 're-susatate' them?

orchids like mild temperture and not direct sunlight. i heard they enjoy high humidity. how often do yo firtulize? and are your orchids in compost or in chip barks. i see they have no drainage. orchid roots like water but the need lots of drainage and plenty of air. put them in plant gel and they be fine in a mild temperture place aswll.if you want to keep your pots buy some plant gel of usa search in yahoo for plant gell. 1 gallon 4 £10 includes shipping and lasts 5 years and you dont have to repot ever agin. becouse roots have access to water and air all the time check out this site
