We normally give our pea pods (lightly steamed) to our hens, but Mrs Scrungee, who doesn't let anything go to waste, has found this recipe:

    Pea Pod Soup

It's starting to smell edible, but it is rather green.

Does anybody know if this is suitable foodstuff for humans?

I must admit I have never tried pea pod soup but I love veg (my son used to say I had a "shrubbery" on my plate!)
    Was it good?

Yes. Despite being rather sceptical, when I tasted some it was rather good (and not thin, watery & lacking in flavour like it thought it would be).

An improvement to the method in the link is not to discard the pods at (5) but to do a second straining and put the pods back in the saucepan with some more bolied water and let them steep for 10 mins or so, then strain again to produce more soup.
