I have just set up a website about moss and algae and its removal from roofs, walls, patios, drives etc. I'm looking for experience and tips to add to the information pages. Is there a moss expert out there! The site is at www.mosskillers.co.uk

Personally I like moss, and lichens - gives character to paths, stones and buildings.

Most folk on GC already know my solution for all things green and slimey :D

That said I agree with Fran and nixonf23. In its place, moss can be very attractive and will grow luxuriously in the darkest of damp corners and looks very natural in amongst ferns. It can be a problem on roofs and in gutters though especially on the North side of a building. Anything above single story I would be inclined to call in the experts to deal with it. Working 30ft or more up ladders isn't a job for the average happy amateur.

Completely agree F!! - let the blokes with ladders and scaffolding deal with it - particularly on my roof!!

I have noticed moss in driveways can be a problem and the total removal often difficult it always returns, so any longlasting soloution would be well worth considering
