Anyone else noticed an increase in the morning bird song?

I've been awake very early on a few occasions recently, but, in the past week or so, the morning birdsong seems to have increased.

I can't identify many birds by their song, but, there is one little fellow who is singing to his hearts content at 3am (and very pretty it is too!).

For me, this is a sure sign the days of Spring are on the march.

Blackbirds are known to sing through the night.

Funnily enough I did notice it this morning, I could clearly hear blackbirds, robins and great tits chirping away...:)

Perhaps the mild weather has fooled them into thinking Spring is closer than it really is?? :dunno::biggrin:

Interestingly, the blackbird is one song/sound that I do recognise (despite it's variance); however, it is not a blackbird. Maybe a tit of some kind? :dunno:

Having said that, I'm chuckling to myself for my ignorance ... couple of nights ago, I was letting Ozzy out for his final wee and I glanced up to see a "thing" (relatively quick it was too!) fly over our garden, over the neighbours garden and into oblivion: we're talking after midnight and it was reasonably low, light in colour, rounded in shape at one end and a little on the fast side. I thought it was a barn owl (?); excitedly told Mr Mum :dancy: and he just looked at me blankly:  "Mum: there are no barns around here!" :nonofinger:
            :oopss:
(but it did look like one!)

I would ask Mr Mum where he thinks Barn owls nested before British inhabitants built farm buildings ;-) I used to have a breeding pair visit the gardens of my old flat, I could hear them call to each other. They can also nest in rock crevices, tree hollows or nesting boxes. In 16 years of listening to them (or their children) I only ever saw one once, very magical !

Cant say I have noticed any thing much in the mornings yet, but have been know to disturb birds roosting in the larger evergreen bushes in the garden after dark.
                  Mostly doves, I think.:)

A robin was doing its "thing", while I was cutting down some trees on the allotment the other day.
Felt kind of guilty, cutting down its perch.:frown:
