I've seen this in pots in garden centres and I am very tempted, as I need a 3-4 metre shrub that is elegant, not too spready and interesting and relatively quick growing. Does anyone have any experience with this. I am so fond of it, I am likely to buy it even if it is unsuitable, but I don't really have the cash to waste! :)
    thanks

I do have the nigra version but only planted last year so it is still a small shrub. I aslo have the Aurea version which was planted 5 years ago and is a perfect yellow backdrop to other plants. I keep it hard pruned and each year it grows about 7 feet high.
