    This is one i wrote in a previous,it`s called;
    .Immaterial.
    Green curtains,beautifully made,of which i`m uncertain,and yet....
    how i love fine china,especially Broccade.
    Please let me convey,if i may?
    the stuff which dictated my day....
    My crazy obsessions,
    with all these posessions,
    the shimmering vissions,the untold indecisions.
    The nick-nacks,the shine
    i once thought divine.
    To be a good wife,these things were my life,
    thank God it`s all faded away!!! :D

    I scribbled this one day, out of the blue ....can't rememer that I was in a particulalrly sombre mood ... but perhaps the sun had gone behind a cloud !! :cool: M-L

    A dreary day, a weary day,
    I sit alone with thoughts.....
    that stray ..
    to days gone by, and wonder where the time has gone...
    since far off days when one,
    in the innocence of youth, would see the world but not the truth.
    Remembering the friends, the foes....
    the laughter, tears,
    and then one goes
    much further back to mothers arms, where, safely held we could not know
    what lay in store, which road to go.
    But, would we change, if we had chance,
    one moment
    of this dance of life, where each step however safely trod
    can lead us who knows where ? .......I think not,
    for basically this life is good, and gives food for thought
    for tomorrow, and what ought
    to be the future.

    Have been known to scribble a few words here and there [IMG]

    I HAD FORGOTTEN

    I really had forgotten, how beautiful it was
    To wander round the garden,and I tell you this because
    This evening I took a stroll, and marvelled at the views
    Of Mother Natures wonders, I just had to share the news

    It was bitter cold this evening, so I wore a coat and hat
    And a pair of gloves to warm my hands,I couldnt forget that
    A gin and tonic in my hand, the gloves kept out the cold
    Of the ice that tinkled gently in the glass I had to hold

    Springtime still seems far away, the frosts still linger on
    It will be a week or two or more, til winters finally gone
    But still the sun was shining bright, to give the heart some cheer
    And made me feel that very soon, the Spring would soon be here

    Buds are still to open though the daffodils have come
    And crocuses are still in bloom, no heat yet from the sun
    It wont be long, I tell myself, in the fading evening light
    And thats exactly what I did, as I wandered round tonight

    I loved my little dander, as I moved back to the house
    My mind began to wander as I rejoined my spouse
    Soon we would be back again, in the garden, where it seems
    Mother Natures wonders can fulfil our greatest dreams

    Lovely, everyone! It's nice to know others like poetry as well. [IMG]

    Here's a little ditty from my teenage days ...

    The Four Seasons of Life

    Spring means live is given.
    Summer a joy every day.
    Autumn means time is passing.
    Winter, life is taken away.

    ... the signature page from my poetry book, Seasons of Myself (unpublished like my other books! :D )

    A poet I'm not, but was moved to write a verse for a birthday card recently.
    Thus: A picture may fade
    And hair turn to grey
    But in our hearts you will always stay
    But most important to me, your son,is
    that there are many many more to come.

    I have been writing poetry and short stories for the past three years.

    I love to write about nature. Here's one I made earlier! [IMG]

    DAYDREAMS

    On the early side of day,
    sapphire ribbons unwind
    from a whistle-clear sky,
    to clothe glorious trumpets
    of Morning Glories,
    which dazzle the eye
    with their transient,
    frail enchantment.

    Willow boughs nod
    responses to the muted
    voice of the wind as it
    shakes the perfume
    from a rose. The scented
    memory floats softly past,
    elusive as a damselfly.

    At the suns zenith
    soft tumbling cumuli
    gather their ermine robes
    and melt like day-shy stars.
    The song thrush rests,
    drowsing in the warmth,
    as I daydream in time to
    lifes eternal rhythms.

    Some beautiful things here. I congratulate you all and envy your gifts with words.
    I can't offer anything original but would like to quote a particular favourite of mine by the Victorian poet Eugene Lee-Hamilton which is very appropriate now. I suppose it's full of fin-de-siecle "malaise" but, nevertheless, it strikes me as being very lovely.
    SPRING

    There lurks a sadness in the April air
    For those who note the fate of earthly things;
    A dreamy sense of what the future brings
    To those too good, too hopeful, or too fair.

    An under-thought of heartache, as it were,
    Blends with the paean that the new leaf sings;
    And, as it were a breeze from Death's great wings
    Shakes down the blossoms that the fruit-trees bear.

    The tide of sap flows up the forest trees;
    The birds exult in every bough on high;
    The ivy bloom is full of humming bees;

    But if you list, you hear the latent sigh;
    And each new leaf that rustles in the breeze
    Proclaims the boundless mutability.

    This in a dream,i did see..
    The skies were ablaze,cries for liberty.
    Ha! `tis astounding the ignorance of thee.
    Listen.Can`t you hear?
    When a child is lost,and it`s Mother blind,
    the unspeakable acts,of the human kind.
    Falling,yet fighting,on and on...
    Did i stray from the path?
    My concience is clear.
    Wait. Hold on.It`s only a dream.
    When confusion is reason,
    yet the burden demeans.
    How extreme.
