So who's going to Chelsea next week? I'm going on the Friday:yho:

My teacher says that he never really liked it all that much (he prefered Hampton Court) as it was far to busy but you've got to go to these places at least once:hehe:

and I'm really looking forward to it:cutflwrs:

:) It's a great experience,I have been several times alas not this year, will be watching on TV though.
I found the show gardens look huge on TV ,not so in real life. It's good to get there early though, it gets a bit crowded at times especialy round the show gardens, but that IS part of the experience.
    Have a great day :).

Thankfully, we didn't buy the caravan, although it does mean no Chelsea for me this year either.

Not going this year, but we tend to go approx. every-other-year.

I think its a great experience, and that the crowds are overrated (used to be a problem in the old days, numbers are limited more now). Still long queues to see some of the show gardens, but they never did much for me anyway ...

... leave your cheque book and credit cards at home!!

For photographs I recommend photograph the label first (close up, so you can read what it is) and then N shots of the plant, then you'll know which is what when you get home as the Plant will follow the Label.

Going to Hampton Court instead, with a fellow gardener. OH would hate it, so he's being left at home!

Hampton Court is easier for us to get to - can drive there, no need to fiddle around with trains and London and we can buy lots and lots as my friend has a jeep :)

I've been at Chelsea for three days already! Our build is going well and I enjoy seeing the other gardens coming together. Come and say hello if you're coming. The garden's called "the Pigrim's Rest" and it's in Ranelagh Gardens.

    Yer will do:gnthb:

Someone actually used one of your garden designs a few months back in a critique they had to do as part of the design section of our L3 hort course at college:thmb:

I would love to come but will have to stick to the online version. Thanks, Water garden!
Chris, the best of luck with your show garden.

A good day to go if you're interested in buying plants is the last day - Saturday. Most of the stands sell off their plants, its a good idea to ask and reserve anything you really want beforehand. At around 4 o'clock some of the showgardens also sell off their displays.

Good luck Boghopper, it must be hard work. I used to work for Hursts in the 70s and we did Chelsea in those days, I helped in their greenhouses preparing as it was a mammoth effort, to get one good show plant we had to grow 200 geraniums, that was the scale.

I could easily grow 200 Geraniums now and not get a single good one :)

Just home from day four of the build. Thought you might like to see the progress we've made.
