    I've just received some seed for a dwarf form of Beschorneria. What's the best way to go about germinating them (are there any tricks).
    The only reason that I'm bothering is that it is a dwarf form producing rosettes of about 30cm across.

    My germination research list normally goes:

    Tom Clothier (nothing on Beschorneria that I could see)
    Strange Wonderful Things - often detailed germination advice, I guess they would be pretty keen that punters' seeds germinate - given the price they will have paid!
    www.rarepalmseeds.com often has useful comments left by punters.

    Sow them in warmth and keep them just damp. They sometimes take a while to germinate so don't be in a hurry to throw them out.
    They are difficult to germinate in our climate but are well worth the effort. Lovely leaves and very pretty flowers.
    If you can bring them under cover in winter, so much the better.

    Thanks guys!

    The attraction of this unknown Beschorneria species are twofold;

    1] It is genuinely dwarf in the foliage (but the flower spike is not a lot smaller) so it is easy to overwinter under cover.
    2] It can go from seed to flower in a year apparently.
