Our LCD bedroom TV has gone on the blink :(

All was working well until I ordered a wall mounted stand with glass shelf. Other half attached to wall and then mounted the TV and now it refuses to switch on!

The little red light stand-by just keeps flashing very fast but it just wont power up.

Have spent the last week or so ringing round and no one seems interested in repairing it either. They either dont cover my area or dont do LCD's. One company said they would come and look at it and never bothered to turn up and havent returned any of my answer phone messages either.

Anyone else had the same problem ??

Stating the obvious perhaps, have you tried changing the batteries in the remote control?

Well, if you find out, do let us know!

I have a nifty tv repair man and he told me when I got my first LCD TV, that they were pretty much unrepairable!

That seems to be the response I am getting here aswell Daises - rubbish isnt it? Its only about 2 1/2 - 3 years old and was about £300 at the time. It hasnt been used that much either!

No idea why companies make things and then no one can be bothered to repair them, or the cost is so high that its cheaper to buy a new tv :( .... only problem is now they all seem to come in high gloss black and everything in our bedroom is silver including the ntl box to match lol

Its ok Andy - I did what manufacturers expect you to do and brought a new one last night online.

Wasnt going too, but they had very low stock left of the silver so didnt want to risk them selling out as cant have the high gloss black .... it wouldn't match lol

    :)

Should be able to return/repair under Sales of Goods Act. Electrical goods are supposed to last a minimum amount of time.

Well yes it should be still covered, but dont have the receipt as it was brought by my sister who then gave it me when she moved house and no longer needed it. She doesnt keep anything so she wont have the receipt either.

I did however email goodmans to tell them about it packing up and how it should really have lasted longer etc etc etc ..... their reply was "contact currys as it wasnt made by us" ...... hmmmm odd when it has their name on it !!!!

Andy - not sure yet ... if I can find someone to repair it cheap then will get it fixed and give it to either one of the kids if they move out or something, or sell it on ebay maybe.
