    good climbers?
after something bright and colourful to climb on my kitchen extension. Any ideas anyone? ideally something that doesn't need too much looking after, but produces nice pretty flowers and doesn't look tatty.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

    :D

    Hello my friend!

That looks ideal, i know this probably sounds like a stupid question but would i need to put something up for it to climb up?

Being meaning to ask, what did you think of my choice of rose???

Haven't looked yet, PoS! Will do now. As for clematis - yes - you can train it on wires against the wall or fence, but a trellis will be great - doesn't have to be a heavy-weight one - this isn't a really big monster of a clematis - quite dainty! First time I saw it I knew I had to get one and now I have! I planted it last week. ;)

Is that particular Clematis a fast grower?

I've got to move my Clematis to make room for my new rose that i told you about. It will be ok to move it won't it? (It's growing up a trelis at the moment so it won't be a problem for me to move, just thinking about the plant. don't want to kill it!!! [IMG]

Is the clematis about to flower, I mean, can you see if it has flower buds developing? If so, it would be best to let it flower first. If you have somewhere you could put the rose temporarily? If it hasn't got buds, and you have to move it, take it with a big ball of earth to protect the roots, so they're not disturbed, if at all possible. It's recommended that you put the rootball onto something like an old sheet, to carry it, which protects the roots, keeps the earth round them, and also means you're less likely to get dirty soil all over your nice clean back yard!! :D

The early sensation will grow pretty quickly, but not take over your place. If you get it from Crocus, it'll be quite a good size already, with flowers, or buds already, as it is an early flowerer.
Good luck! ;) What a brilliant avatar!

Sorry, should have said, the Clematis is in a big pot, and yes it does look as though it will flower soon.
The rose can wait a while, no urgency.
Do you still think i should leave the Clematis to flower first?

Only if it was in the ground - ok to move apot whenever you like!! Just be carfeul if you have to disentangle it all from whatever it's climbing up!! [IMG]
