I took these photos while on holiday last week in Gran canaria.
They were all taken in the Harbour in Mogan.
Just wondered if anyone could put a name to any of them.
( And I don't mean Bill or Fred Ha Ha)
I mean what make they are.LOL

Sorry I can't help you but I do want to say they are great pics. Someone is bound to come along and ID them, I'd be interested too.

Lyn, I am not that well upon marine fish but I think the long pink thin one in the first pic might be a Pipe fish and the other colourful ones in the second pic look like Wrasse. I don't know what the ones in the third pic are.

    Hy Lyn,
here is my guess (well - actually - somebody's else guess speaking through me...):
first picture: mullets around a trigger fish
    second picture: wrass
    third picture: mullets again

Agree they could be Mullet but the first one is definitely not a Trigger.

I just looked up trigger and pipe fish and wrass and they don't look like the ones I saw.
    The others are Mullet.

    hi Lyn,
you are absolutely right in saying that the triggerfish doesn't go near the one in the first picture. It impossible to mistake it with one!
New suggestion...could it be an "Aulostomus Chinensis" ? I hope so!

my husband says the pink long one is some sort of knife fish
the 2nd pic - maloui chiclids
and the 3rd pic some sort of shark fish, but not sharks obviously!

but he says to add a disclaime: 'but i'm no expert'

    he just kept fish.

Trumpet fish and pipefish are the same family Syngnathiformes (pipefishes and seahorses)top picture, definitely not a knife fish mgn they are fresh water as are (maloui)should be malawi chiclids found in fresh water in lake malawi africa, the one on the right in the middle picture looks like a blue ring wrasse the smaller yellow ones are probably its females they have a unusual breeding pattern if the male dies or gets eaten one of his harem changes into a male to take his place,it is possible the lefthand one in the middle picture could be a triggerfish but without seeing a full side on shot it's difficult to tell,I will go for mullets top and bottom pics.

I think that pink one in the first photo is an old umbrella somebody has thrown in the harbour. :D

    Super fish photos though.
