Just finished watching what has to be the saddest film ever for anyone who has a dog!

Would definately recommend but you will need tissues so be warned !!

Think it hits home more as we have an older dog ourselves who's health isnt as great as it used to be. Sophie :luv: (aka mummys old girl) is 10 nearly 11 now and the thought of her not being around scares me to death :(

Even when she stands all over my newly planted flowers and ruins them lol .... tis too hard to be cross with her when she looks at you with her grey-ing face !

Yes, I watched it. Not sure I'd say saddest film though. I've lost two great dogs in my life. And he at the end was with his old friend when he left the earth, thats how it should be. It was a nice movie.

Im not much of a book reader im afraid so had never heard of the story before. Watched the trailers for it and thought it was just a funny film about a dog ....... probably why I thought it was so sad at the end!!

Just glad I never went to the cinema to watch it - crying like a baby in public lol

Haven't seen the film but read the book many years ago and yes, I did cry! If I remember correctly he got the dog to help his wife cope with the fact that they couldn't have children and how the dog then becomes such an important part of their life. In the trailers I've seen and the write ups I've read this part seems to be ignored, but maybe I've just missed it.

    cheers

Yes they have 3 children in the film. They buy the dog so that she doesnt want children straight after they get married ..... but guess like most books to film, it always changes !

I loved that film. It was uncannily similar to a much loved lab we had. The bit at the end when they put him in the back of the car to go to the vets was the same ending as ours. Our poor doggie thought he was going on an outing. He was such a nut of a dog and we loved him so. We've lost so many furry friends over the years.

I think I spent the last 20 mins of the film sat with tears just rolling down my face sobbing ... and then an hour afterwards cuddled up on the bed with the dog Sophie (our old girl!)

Guess thats why I was crying really, cause its going to be reality one day :( Apart from my son, shes been the one constant in my life for the last almost 11 years. Through a marriage breakdown with a cheating ex husband and all sorts, she has been here to lick up the tears :) Life is soooo much happier now but she still always knows if I am sad .... bless her :)

I know exactly what you mean.....we have a 8 1/2 year old Saint Bernard and their life expectancy is 9 or 10, so i am with you when you said, it will be reality soon for us too.
