That reminds me. I meant to but the sprinkler on for a bit. The ground is so dry it is cracking.

My sprinkler has multiple settings. I like 'cloud' mode. It fires a fine spray straight up, which then gently rains back down so that you get a wide, even distribution and its gentle enough even for delicate young plants.

Should be first class as it comes from Haws Watering Cans - best there are!

Personally I use a Haws long-ish reach watering can, with one of the "fine as rain" roses. Definitely delivers "rain" soft enough not to squash seedlings. Not sure how well it would work connected to a hose at relatively high pressure though, I think that rate of water flow may be counter productive for "fine as rain". Haws watering cans last a lifetime, but aren't cheap ...

I have a multi-function spray nozzle on the hose, if I have occasion to use that on seed trays I use the "mist" function which lays down quite a bit of water quite quickly, but in a very fine form. They wear out and start leaking in not-many-seasons IME. I moved from plastic to brass to improve that, but a couple of seasons in its starting to drip ...

For general "soft" watering (not seedlings) I have a professional lance; it has no adjustment (other than on/off lever) but the joy of it is that its perforated head delivers water at very high throughput, so unlike the multi-function nozzles I have I think it is quicker to water plants-in-pots (9cm upwards to patio containers) without being forceful and flushing all the soil out of the pots! Because its not multi-select there is no rotating selector mechanism to fail or start to leak, so its pretty bulletproof I reckon :) Make sure you get one with a long enough lance so that you don't have to stoop. By way of example:

they are about 40 quid (and note that this one has Pro hose connectors "Geka" rather than Hoselock pushfit ones - which probably also helps water volume throughput as Hoselock ones are constrictive)

Our multi-function spray nozzles cost £2.60 + VAT in our local Trade Centre. I bought them 15 months ago and they're still going OK :blue thumb:

I'll have probably binned mine by then :heehee:

They have about seven settings, can't remember exactly, and we rarely use more than one! :rolleyespink:
