I bought this the other day. Its been very windy here and it looks like this plant has got the brunt end : (

What should I do...if there is anything I can do. Also do you think it will rebloom this year or is that it?

thats it sorry to say , its a Rhododendron spring blooming , will re bloom next year you need to keep well watered over the summer months or the buds wont develop properly.

Next time try and buy either in full bud , or just about to break so you get your ££ worth.

    looks very nice

At the big garden centres and nurseries at this time of year, you will see loads of plants looking their best. They're there to tempt you in to buy. You'll see those who've fallen for it before lurking around in the lower profile areas, looking for plants that haven't flowered yet.

I've found in the past that even if you buy something that is blooming, where if left undisturbed, it would bloom for another couple of weeks, the disturbance of planting out puts the plant into survival mode, where it abandons its flowers to conserve its energy for redeveloping its roots, so all the flowers either go bad or fall off within a day or two.

Rhododendrons only bloom once a year on buds which develop the previous year (any time from July/August onwards). I would deadhead it, give it a feed with some slow release ericaceous plant food and keep it watered so it can concentrate on becoming established so it will give you a good showing next year.

When deadheading, be careful that you don't damage the new growth which is just underneath the flower.
