My Apple tree has started blooming in late August.
The weather has recently turned cooler after a hot spell so I can't see how the tree would think it's an early spring.

    Is this normal expected behaviour?

I asked a well known AI tool and it said I must be mistaken LOL.

I planted it in Sept 2022 so 2 years ago as a bare root M25.

My Katy did that last year and my blueberries - nothing came of it of course.
      Climate change is causing confusion.

But my Katy is more laden this year than it ever has been in 20+ yrs and I had a great harvest of blueberries

Yes, I believe this is quite common. I've had three different apple trees which have '2nd bloomed' at this sort of time. It wouldn't surprise me if the 'new normal' weather changes are making it more common.

My neighbour's huge magnolia is flowering, looks really odd when it's in full leaf.

I dont think late flowering of apple is anything new, likewise magnolias often flower a second time while in full leaf.
Wisteria also often flower a second time.

One of my elders has a few flowers and my rowan have done the same in the last couple of weeks. We have had apples bloom again in the past but not this year.

This is quite usual when the weather fluctuates unseasonably.

Yes, my Ribston Pippin has done this for the past 2-3 years. It's so odd seeing fruit and flowers on at the same time. I'm wondering if it thinks it's a Lemon . Last year it even set clusters of fruit, but of course they all fell off by December. If it does it this year, I think I will rub the flowers off so it doesn't waste the energy.
