Apricot Canker

    I live on the Greek Island of Rhodes,I have inherited an Apricot tree and it is infected with canker is there any cure for this and will it spread to my other fruit trees,fig,lemon,orange and pomegranate,I would love to keep this tree but the infection seems widespread even the trunk is oozing sap :help:

    Hullo mate. I think you've posted this before, so I'll give you the same answer.:) I've had the same problem with Apricots. I've Googled this like crazy. P.G. (no longer on the site) got it right. It's a virus/Bactreil infection for which there is no cure. Destroy the tree, it's gonna die anyway.:wink: Never heard of it cross infectioning but as the tree is gonna die you will avoid any problems:)

    If it`s Bleeding Canker, then yes, it can be passed to other trees, but as Cajary says, it needs to be cut down and burnt, PDQ.
