I bought 9 gorgeous white Norah Barlow from Farmer Gracey a couple of months back. Was looking forward to the white flowers to lighten up a dark corner of the garden.. What I seem to have is 8 spindly looking pink things. Aquilegia yes, but skinny poor looking pale pink. Does NB maybe come through pink and change to white? Or should I email them and moan? I could've got them cheaper at the nursery along the road if I had wanted pink ones.

    Hi,

Wonder if you ordered the wrong plant ? Norah Barlow is Pink, its White Barlow thats white.

Otherwise it does sound like you have been sent the wrong plants.

Nora Barlow is usually a deep pink with white borders and multiple petals. The white borders generally have a hint of green at the tips.

        AQUILEGIA.jpg Aquilegia 'White Barlow' / 6 bare roots -
Just checked my orders, and that's copied from my order page on their site. I ordered 6 white and 3 blue. And what's growing is this in the pic, which sounds like NB but not the white one I wanted -

I'd contact them and complain and tell them how disappointed you are. Send the photo as well. They should give you your money back. That won't give you what you asked for but is better than nothing. If they are good with their customer service they may send you something else as compensation.

        Good luck :blue thumb:

As such plants to sell they are now out of season we would ask or our money back.
Not so much for just the money, but to see how good their customer service really is, as @shiney mentions

As its too late for any such spring plants why not get and start off a packet of White Barlow seeds now which should be flowering size by next Spring.
Aquilegia vulgaris var. stellata, 'White Barlow' Seeds £2.75 from Chiltern Seeds - Chiltern Seeds Secure Online Seed Catalogue and Shop

Your Pink ones look nice and healthy and should be really good big plants next Spring, some White ones would look good with them.

Great idea ricky. A mixed bed of pink & white would be fine. Nowhere to grow from seed though. tiny wee garden with no room or potting shed etc. But I will buy some in Spring and make it a pink & white colour scheme instea of just white. . Love it :spinning:
