Anybody know if one Callicarpa bodineri var giraldi will produce berries. I had two and got berries. This year I removed one, to plant something else and now there are no berries on the remaining one, despite it having flowered well.
Is it weather related or just a poor season or do I need a second one.

I had the same experience in the UK, Nigel. Planted two here and there is always a good set of berries, so think the answer is 'no' and 'yes':)

Oh hope they are as bought 1 (Profusion) this Spring. Loads of berries on it atm but then can't remember if it was flowering when I bought it as flowers are pretty inconspicuous. Seems odd if you had flowers but no berries (too dry?). As per my usual (having a large garden and 1 of anything looks a bit grotty) I have taken cuttings which have now rooted so will eventually have more plants but will take a while I think before they will be big enough to flower. Sorry can't actually answer your question, hopefully someone will be able to give you a definitive response.

Having looked into this a bit more, it seems they like company and that you are better off with several in a cluster.
So I will be taking cuttings next weekend.
