since the middle of December i have been watching my daff's leaves growing as the weeks have gone by they have grown a little more.
however it is now the end of Feb and i still have no stems just lots of green leaves.
i think something has gone wrong.
my wife was saying that last year there was only about one dozen that flowered i was deployed with the Navy so had to agree but there must be at least 100 planted
is this quite common or have i killed something again????
my tulips are coming on really well i hope they manage to flower

Daffs don't like to poke their heads out until the weather warms up. We live quite high up on open ground and we are only onto the snowdrop stage, no daffs yet. The other possibility is that daffs form clumps and it's a good idea every few years to dig them up an separate them or else they start to grow 'blind'.

I don't think you have too much to worry about yet Barra some of my Daffs are getting their flower heads ready to open and some can't be bothered to have their heads on yet.... but my little minitures are flowering like crazy!

Although I do agree with Terrier I like to give my daffs a little room to breathe when it looks like it's getting a little crowded I divide them. Hel.xxx.

First year this year and what an abundance of colour(yellow) there is going to be. Flowers haven't opened yet but they are there.

I think Barra that you haven't put the bulbs in deep enough. I did it myself some years ago when my mother was alive and loved daffodils. The first year they were OK then in subsequent years just flowered less and less until we simply dug them up in summer and re-planted deeper.

Here's a funny thing years back I caught my mum-in-law putting her bulbs in up-side down I had to follow along after her turning them the right way up...but we did have a good giggle about it and the bulbs did well in the end, funny thing was though shortly afterwards she when to get her eyes tested and yes you guessed right she badly needed specs!Hel.xxx.
