Can anyone tell me whether they think my spuds are ready? Well, I know it's a bit too late cos I have dug them up. IU cant remember exactly when they went into the ground...prob end of April(ish). I chitted them for about 6 weeks first...and decided to pull them up today as the plant was beginnig to look on the tired side! The slugs have seemed to nibbled flower buds off and a lot of the leaves..and also the wind has been battering them for weeks! They just look really pale to me and was wondering if they are ok to eat, even though they are small and perhaps not perfect size. (I don't know what size they are supposed to be though!)
As I was pulling them up, there were still lots of small (very small) potatoes starting to form so am wondering whether I should have left them longer....
    Thanks

I usually wait to after they've flowered and then foliage starts to wilt, but this year I dug mine early because they wet weather was threatening to kill them. The tiny spuds you saw will have grown bigger if you'd left them, but its too late now. Incidentally, don't waste the tiny ones (unless you already have), just wash them and fry them olive oil with a bit of garlic and they are lovely.
