Put these in a while back, aiming for some Christmas potatoes but I think they're succumbing to blight :-/

Is there any way back from this? A couple of the plants barely have any remaining foliage now.

Spray with Bordeaux mixture and don't dig them up till you got the pan boiling

Thanks Zigs - will new foliage grow after they've been sprayed?

I've never used Bordeaux mixture before, is it harmful?

We get a lot of blight at our allotments it would seem - I grew a more resistant maincrop this summer (Sarpo Mira) and our crop outlasted many plotholders - maybe I got too confident! :snork:

No, getting too late for it now, had a few plants come down with it but the bordeaux mix has held it back enough to get some crops.

Not harmful, you just wash it off :)

Awesome - Think our plants look too small to believe they will yield anything now, but will give it a go.

Thanks for the advice as usual - have learnt so much round here... would never have managed my first year as an allotmenteer without the last few years quietly lurking on this forum!!

Ok... looked in every garden centre in town and could not find any Bordeaux Mixture. Asked an older, wise looking employee at Wyevale today who informs me it is not available any more

Hi I put our Christmas potatoes in on the 1st week of august but they got a battering when we got the tail end of the hurricane the other week. Since then they have damaged leaves and seem to be losing foliage. Could this be blight or wind damage?

That doesn't look like blight gill - can you give them a little protection such as fleece, might help them recover.

Oh that's a relief although i had another look and I see little brown spots on the leave too. I have a fleece so i'll try that thanks. They have been in for 12weeks so hoping they are a decent size if I have to dig them up.
