About the only useful thing to do with these is to make pectin for jams etc. Lots of recipes online:)

Depends on which variety they are. My Beauty of Bath apples are ready now

The sugar content of their juice is 13% (checked with refractometer yesterday) and supermarket carton apple juice is typically 12%, so I'll be picking the lot and pressing them for juice this week.

My Worcester Pearmains are up to 11% juice sugar content and the first may also be ready before the end of this month, but all my apples seem to be at least 2 weeks early this year.

If they're sweet they are ripe, unless they are cookers (or cider apples), so brown pips is the best guide as to whether they are ready.

        Hi Ashlee

Could be the June drop (why its called June drop no idea ) mine seem to drop them in July.

Its usualy when the tree has too many apples to feed.
