    Hello

For 2 weeks now my lawn has been overtaken with these pests. Are these flying ants?

What's the best way to get rid of them as I can't even sit outside?

I can't see any nests but suppose it could be well under the lawn.

They're not ants. Their abdomens are too small.

Normally seen in May apparently but the images online match exactly what I have in the garden.

Yes probably fever fly then. Reading online it's the larvae that's the issue as they will be an inch under the soil in nests and will start to spread.

I can only see one solution which is using a leatherjacket treatment as it's essentially the same thing at this stage e.g the larvae is the issue, not the fly.

I've also read that you can water the ground well and then cover in a plastic sheet. Apparently they will come to the surface and cling to the plastic. I think I'd be at that for days!
