If I'm in the garden centre I am always 'drawn' to deep reds and purples, if my Son is with me he can't resist yellow, does anyone else find this?

Yes Val, purples for me too. Also burgundies and deep blues are favourites.

looking at the plants in my garden I would also say Purple. I have a couple of yellow and red, but that's only because I knew I had too many purple lol.

oooh - I love smokey pastel shades. I have trouble with harsh reds and yellows; only a dusty lemon floats my boat,

For me its not one colour, but a sort of mix. I like flowers that look like fire. You know, when they're sort of two tone/multi tone ranging from yellow through to deep red shades, all on the same flower. Some of my nasturtiums do it, and I've seen some wallflowers that do it too.

Purples and reds mainly for me, but then I do have a fair bit of orange appearing in my displays. I am a sucker for trailing plants (just love to see plants tumbling out of baskets and planters, especially when they cover walls etc); mind you, I do like a BIG plant at the back of a border too - looking forward to the XXXL dahlias and the nicotiana sylvestris this year.

To be fair, if it grows, gives loads of flowers and looks pretty, its got as good a chance as anything with me, regardless of colour. God, I am incurable!

If it's a single colour then my absolute Nirvana would be turquoise...................

Back in the real world however, it's more about colour combos for me. Much as I dislike pink it's perfect for Impatiens balfourii....................

Tricyrtis lasiocarpa is (IMO) an awesome colour combo....................

I do have a fondness for brown, green or black blooms too.

It changes - a couple of years ago it was pinks, then I started mixing yellows with pinks, then moved onto deeper shades of yellow and orange, now I've moved on to deep red and I do love a deep purple as well, like this Rhododendron Marcel Menard (darker in the flesh but the colour is very hard to capture):

Blue repels me, I hate the colour with a passion (apart from duck egg blue on a wall, but never in my garden). Shame I'm a Manchester City fan then

I have to say longk that I do like the turquoise of those flowers, very unusual.
