    Hello everyone

I’d like some advice please on my palm and why it could be dying. I’ve attached some pictures to let people see if there is anything that we are doing that’s causing the leaves to brown and become crispy and the base of the palm leaves to rot (I think). Perhaps our room isn’t humid or warm enough? I really don’t know it was doing so well at one stage.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

    thank you

I grow another small palm indoors and find that it needs regular watering and a location in bright light which is also warm. Your compost looks quite dry. I would first try to wipe off what looks like white mould on the leaves with a damp cloth, take the potted plant to the sink and water it thoroughly until water runs out from the bottom. Let it drain for a few minutes then place it in a warm well lit room, but not next to a window or radiator. Your pot must have a drainage hole which flows freely and the compost should be kept moist, watered as above when the top couple of centimetres of compost feel dry, using your fingertip as a test, but don't allow all the compost to dry out completely. The roots look healthy so you should be able to revive it!

Lots of house plants suffer with problems during winter especially.
Not sure what the white is on the leaves but possibly mildew which points to the plant environment not being quite suitable .
It does look a bit dry at the roots and normal room temperature should be sufficient, a steady temperature rather than one that fluctuates wildly is best.
Good light or even some sunlight at this time of year could help.

If your plant is in a terracotta pot @Peteski2024, which it appears to be in one of your photos, you'll find it easier to control the moisture content if it is in a ceramic or plastic pot. The terracotta will dry out more quickly indoors in a warm room due to its porosity.
