Anyone grow this ( or any of the large showy flowered species)?

I've always wanted to grow these but have never seen them for sale. I'm finally going to try growing one from seed ( unless anyone here can point me in the right direction!).

Can they be grown in pots successfully and does anyone have an idea of how long it will take to flower from seed?

You probably don't want to know but they grow wild here so obviously like a hot climate. I am sure I saw some growing around the caravan at the river ... will have a lookie on Sunday but currently it's the Wild Gladiolus blooming everywhere, lovely.

I've recently sown A.elegans seed (thanks Kristen) - I'll let you know how I get on. I understand it to be tender.

I bought a packet of Lottery mix seeds from Chilterns last year, and I think I have an Aristolochia amongst the plants that came up.
Couldn't say which one it is though as its not flowered yet, fairly small leaved, and racing away in the conservatory.

Thanks Spruce. They grow this species at my 'local' butterfly farm. I've often been tempted to take. Couple of cuttings from it!. Sadly though, the flowers are tiny and mostly hidden underneath the leaves.

I thought the photo of them didnt look that good .
Seeds sound the best idea plus look easy to get hold off and still time to plant , they did sell plants in T&M a couple of years ago they sold out in two days , they look to tropical plus I think you would need a big greenhouse to let it grow properly which I haven't got

Have the Aristolochia seeds germinated? Where they difficult?

I'm growing a number of Arisaemas this year too. I purchased a few flowering sized tubers last week!

Not sure. I looked on my spreadsheet and nothing recorded, but I'm as good as certain that I have a tray of several varieties that has been pricked out for weeks. Administrative error I think !!! I'll check in the conservatory tomorrow and report back

Managed to purchase quite a nice plant of A. Sempervirens on Saturday. Although its a tiny plant compared to its more tropical cousins, the flowers are still curious enough to warrant my affection!
