    Morning all,

Yesterday we took a trip to Arley Hall which is just on the other side of Warrington from where I live. The weather wasn't amazing (considering the amount of sun we have had in the last week), but it did stay dry for most of the day which was a definite bonus! The gardens have been voted in the top ten gardens of Britain (apparently) and they are very impressive. Needless to say my favourites were the rhodies and azaleas - they were just magnificent. The acers were in glorious colour as well. Here's some pics:

Some water gardening - acers looking stunning against the background planting:

    Hope everyone enjoys them!

Glad everyone enjoyed them - they have a nursery there too that sells plants cultivated from the gardens. I have bought a couple with the hope of recreating some of the colour schemes, if not the scale! ;)

That's where some of my ancestors lived Dave!

"The original hall was built by Piers Warburton in 1486 and the cruck barn and other outbuildings date from that period."

What a lovely garden Dave. The colours are glorious and the grass looks so green. I'm at an Open Garden this afternoon but the weather is looking decidedly iffy. No rain as yet but the wind is blowing well so it may deter any potential visitors. Still I'll look on the positive side - there'll be plenty of cake left for the weekend..........!

Haha - well the Warburtons featured heavily in the older documents you could look at in the house. The family who live there now, the Ashbrooks, still live in parts of the house and the grounds. One of them is in charge of the nursery as well!

You'll have to see if you can get any discount, Dave, for family ties! :D
