Lovely Bamboo but it doesn't run........................................................................

    it gallops!

I have two lovely areas of it contained behind concrete barriers.

I was thinking of getting a large plastic tub, and putting it in that and burying the tub in ground.
The tub I've seen is about 30"x 24"x 24" deep that should make a nice clump I hope and contain it.

Arrow Bamboo is Pseudosasa japonica if I remember correctly.
Tbh, it wouldn't be one that I would grow.
It does tend to spread, and isn't one of the best looking ones.

If you are looking for some sort of hedging, try one of the Phyllostachus if you have a bit of space. There are a few species that have yellow or yellow and green striped canes.
And if your space is limited, Fargesia would be better. And the recently newly available genus - Borinda.

Thanks Sirius, I've seen it on ebay for sale just down the road from me, its about 14 feet tall, I was going to plant it in a corner under a neighbours sycamore tree, I was really looking for the height as I was going to plant around it with other exotic plants.
Will have a look at the ones you suggested.

    Have a look here:

    http://www.junglegiants.co.uk/

I have bought quite a few bamboo from them.
Good quality and the owner always gives good advice, and is very helpful.
