What annoys me is the price goes up 6p a litre then they take 5p off if you spend £30/£50.
just checked petrolprices.com and its not gone down yet in our area.

What annoys me ever more is that's it doesn't seem so much of a saving now it's 5p off £1.36 a litre, when it used to be 5p off 80p a litre not that long ago.

But I suppose the food you need to buy to get a 5p off voucher has increased just as much as fuel. Now I'm double annoyed.

You don't have to buy anything in the supermarket to get this saving.

No, but my nearest Asda (or a Morrisons - who've also reduced their fuel prices - with petrol station) is 20 miles away, so a 40 mile round trip won't be cost/time effective despite having an 80 litre tank.

So a £50 shop and 5p off a litre locally at Tescos might be better option than buying at Asda. But I will now plan longer journeys so I can fill up at the likes of Asda.

Tesco have also reduced the price of their fuel.
      I believe it's £133.9 petrol
      £136.7 Diesel

It should be the government that are reducing fuel prices, although I must admit we are being ripped off by both government and retailer.

Any retailer than can knock off 5 or 6p per litre has obviously making a killing for very long time.

But the biggest rip off merchants are the government, and it doesn't matter what colour they are its traditional to clobber transport and put almost nothing back.
I think short of a revolution and a few severed heads, nothing will be done.

I've got a Morrisons about 4 miles away from me, but the price of fuel hasn't come down yet.:cry3:
Like Scrungee, the nearest Asda is close to 20 miles away and so it doesn't make economic sense to go there.
I never can get my head around just how much profit the Supermarkets are making on fuel.
You would think that they would cut the price down to the bone as a loss leader to attract more customers, but then again, for the "Bean Counters" that's against their religion of maximum profit and sod the world. :cry3::what:

When it comes down to it, the poor sodding motorist subsidises everything except the upkeep of the road network.:cry3::dbgrtmb:

I and some friends have done some experiments over recent years and discovered that what you save on the cheaper price at the pump you lose by poor performance that means you use your petrol faster. This has been even more noticeable in recent months where we've found that our Smart car can do as much as sixty extra miles on a tank of Shell Petrol rather than Asda petrol when we're doing the same route up and down the A1 very routinely.

Well now it's got really complicated because if Tesco, Morrisons & Asda have all reduced their prices and Tesco & Morrisons also have spend & save offers for money off fuel, plus
(+ some instant mulch for the plot) and I've got spend and save vouchers for £6 to use at Tescos and I'm getting close to a £5 Morrisons voucher from their fuel loyalty card card, but Asda & Morrisons are both about 20 miles away (although I need some cheap strimmer line that'll take me close), plus I'm supposed to be going sea fishing next week so I'll br using a fair bit of fuel and I'll be passing all three.

        Time to open Excel...........

The only major supermarket we have here is Tesco's but they don't sell petrol.

The cheapest on the island is Total. Unleaded £1.44 and diesel £1.50. Our prices have always been higher.
