British grown asparagus will be on my dinner plate within 2 weeks!

My Asparagus bed is now 3 years old and bearing fruition, I have spears appearing at this early stage.

So maybe less than 2 weeks? :)

Great isn't it? I have some spears that are emerging, the tallest at the moment is about an inch tall :) Have just spoken with somebody who is clearing out their late mother's house, he was looking at our asparagus bed down front of the garden and commented on it - remembered that there's a large bed at his mothers - he's offered to transplant it to ours :) Have to find out how to go about that........probably way the wrong time of year to do it though :(

If it's an old bed it will be a pick and shovel job and wrong time of year. Asparagus roots are MASSIVE once established.

Thanks Dave - figured definitely the wrong time of year - don't know how long they will still have the house for and if it could be relocated at a later date. :(
