Asparagus Substiture

    In this weeks Amateur Gardening magazine Alys Fowler is talking about eating Hosta - apparently it tastes like asparagus.
    The young leaves are taken while they are still at at the furled stage (spears) and can be eaten raw or lightly steamed or wilted in butter like spinach.

    Has anyone tried it - or want to be the first to give it a go.

    I guess you need to be quick, in order to get there before the slugs:)

    I'b be scared of poisoning myself ! :( So many things we are told are edible these days.... cant imagine myself eating hostas

    I love my Hostas too much to eat them !!
