After the failure of my asparagus peas I am wondering whether to try asparagus next year - has anyone any success/failure stories or tips?

Hello golcarlilly, asparagus is quite easy to grow from seed but you will need to give them at least two or three years before you can start cutting them. I started some three years ago and still have not had very many spears coming up together, they still tend to appear in ones and two's. A way to get quicker results is to buy crowns and plant them in spring, if you have the space for them it is worthwhile as they can continue cropping for up to twenty years, good luck.

If you have a Wilkinson`s store near you, they usually do them, in the spring, 3 roots for about £3.:thumb:
