Astilbes

    These astilbes are loving the wet weather.
    My hostas are being nibbled by slugs but it's one of the pitfalls of gardening on clay.

      very pretty. love astibles. I did a short study on them few years ago and there are several types that can be planted so that over a course of 3 months some will be freshly blooming all the time. I love the plummy type. Yep see your poor hosta.

      Slugs have demolished my hostas too :cry3:But 2 of my astilbes are cracking,i love them:spinning:

          I think they're very nice. Just like little feather dusters, which I wont make a joke about. :biggrin:

            I love astilbes lolimac,they never seen to disapoint no matter what the weather :spinning:plus great foliage :blue thumb: and animal n slug proof :heehee: x

                There is a nice Astilbe out there it's foliage is burgandy, flowers red, don't know the name but it's a treat to have.

                Nope, the leaves have a green burgendy look to them. Not green glossy. It is around.

                    OK, so I'm cheating. This is actually in my next door neighbour' Piccies on 17th July 2012 005.JPG s garden. I told her I'd fallen in love with it and she is happy for me to take a portion in Winter. I have just the place for it to join my others - yet to flower. Isn't it smashing?
