Greenhouse 002.JPG Greenhouse 001.JPG I can hardly believe it but this project - started in March - is finally finished. So we have gone from this, above, to this:

Greenhouse 003.JPG Greenhouse 002.JPG Greenhouse 001.JPG And it has turned out just as I'd hoped. The roof glass went in a little bit off true, but good enough, and the sides glass was pretty straight. A lot of time was spent dithering about lamenting that we couldn't get the measurements to match up but in the end I decided to just go for it, and it has worked.

In case you are wondering, the back end of the greenhouse is tied into the brick wall by means of 4x4 timbers which my friend who is a carpenter, sorted for me. A bit unconventional, but it has worked. I did the flooring which, unbelievably, seems to be vaguely level.

So now my tomatoes have a home. I'm a bit concerned whether their position will be sunny enough but heyho, there was no perfect site for the greenhouse, we'll see how we get on. In early spring I'm planning to have removable benches for the seed trays etc, and take them out when it's time for tomato planting. In the back bed I've got a physalis peruviana, a cobaea scandens and a wisteria which will be evicted in the Autumn. It occurs to me that my lemon grass seedlings might be worth trying in there too.

No Loli, you are fine, it's me taking ages to get the photos up.

I love the pebble work between the slabs. Did you use concrete or mortar to hold the stones in place?

I put them ion a bed of slabfix but put about an inch of ready mix mortar on the top to keep it all firm. You could use all mortar if you prefer but I had some slabfix and wanted to use some up. I've found slabfix just isn't really strong enough on its own. I really enjoy doing pebble work and it's quite fast to complete.

I wanted a slightly wider pebble work down all the joints but it would have made the side border too narrow. I like having a smooth floor that can be swept so I hope it will work well.

Actually, that brick wall might serve the dual purpose of protecting the Green House from wind while, also in the Winter, passing on some warmth from the bricks.:snork:

                    Looks very good :)

Even if you had it in full sun you would then need to then put some shading on to stop it getting too hot, so I'm sure it will be OK there.
