Notice I did not include Building Societies, the few we have left seem to be the exception to the norm.

I recently sacked HSBC and moved all my banking to Nationwide Building Society. I must admit that for the most part, they've been alright. I've even got the direct phone number for the branch:)

Yes, I like Nationwide. Except when I get stuck in a queue behind a deaf ninety year old who wants to discuss the intricacies of her nine savings accounts, when all I want to do is make a quick transaction and get the hell out. :)

The Ecology Building Society have stood by me during a recent financial meltdown.

Barclays on the other hand, well, heres the annual summary,

            Account fees 180.00
            Reserve fees 550.00
            Bounce fees 160.00
            Interest 25.40

            Total 915.40

You can see from the overdraft interest that I was not wildly overdrawn, they made their money by refusing to compromise. They knew I was due a big tax refund, even had it in writing from HMRC, but they just wanted to screw as much as they could out of me.

The above charges are mirrored by each item they bounced, usually £25 per bounced item from the creditors as well.

            Zigs posted.....

"Dear Bankers, Credit Cards, Storecards, Payday Loan companies.

We've had enough of your greed.

Since being let out to play on your own by Thatcher's Junta in the 1980's you have proved time & time again that you cannot be trusted wih our money.

Lets have a look at your track record.

Endowment Mortgages. 95% Mortgages. Payment Protection Scams. Buy to Let Mortgages. Equity Release.

All of the above have caused untold misery, financial loss, reposession & bankruptcy for huge numbers of people.

Lets look at your other money grabbing schemes.

Base Rate has been at 0.5% for years now. So why are you charging 16.9% APR on average to lend us money?

When we get items returned due to lack of funds, why do you charge us 3 to 4 times the value of said item when it would be better for us to just settle up at the end of the month? If we were on a downward spiral it would quickly become obvious as we would stop paying money in.

No, you just want to take as much cash from us as you possibly can.

Why have you replaced all the direct phone numbers to your branches with premium rate numbers with automated answering?

So you can rake off even more money from us if we dare try to ask you where all our money has gone.

So after we have been battered around the head financially by you, you then tell us our Credit Rating has dropped, which is just an excuse to charge us even higher rates of interest.

And then, as if all the above wasn't enough for you, you had to try to squeeze even more money out of the poorest parts of society, the ones you knew couldn't afford to pay it back. Causing the biggest financial meltdown since the Wall Street Crash.

We, the people who you have been screwing for every last penny for so many years are now having to bail you out, and yet still you insist that your top people be paid astronomical salaries and bonuses out of our money.

And still, you will not lend money at a reasonable rate to the businesses that we need to keep the U.K. afloat.

Give us one good reason why all your assets should not be seized and every last banker in the U.K. should not be thrown in jail for Criminal Negligence?"

See, when it's put like that, it kinda puts it in perspective. Makes ones blood boil, the 'treetrees'!!

            Hiya Zigs.

Me and a few others were talking today, about those that get low tax rates, by doing some 'trick' involving Jersey. 1% tax rate? We wondered what our chances were of setting up an offshore account. Yeah...I know:lunapic 130165696578242 5:

Presumably for the same reason that if I send a letter it costs 60p., but should my Solicitor send an identical letter on my behalf, it costs me £3. :dunno:

Do you think it's too late for me to become a top banker? Admittedly I bombed my GCE Maths but then getting things horribly wrong seems to be part of the basic job description. And I think I'd enjoy the work. You know, lots of money and the added security of knowing that when things go t*ts up everyone just shrugs and gives you even more money to go away.

Way to go, shine on you Crazy Diamond:dbgrtmb:

I was waiting till more of us express our thoughts about the banks before copying this thread to all of them.

Did I tell you about the time I reported the Manager of Barclays in Aldershot for fraudulently charging Business customers?
