I have an aubergine plant in my conservatory and its been doing very well, has flowers on it, which I assume will become aubergines and has tripled in size since planting. I've just noticed that it is now covered in green aphids :yikes: What is the best way to get rid of this please ? Two of my bunnies live in the conservatory, so need to be careful what I spray in there.

Take the plant outside, spray it and bring it back in once the spray has dried.
I'm guessing the rabbits dont eat the leaves, might well be poisonous anyway, being part of the nightshade family, I believe.

I've had this problem in my greenhouse. This is what I did and it seems to have worked so far. I sprayed the plants with an organic aphid killer spray bought from the garden centre, left it a couple of days and started spraying them with water every day. I don't know if the aphids dislike the water spray or the plants are just happier and therefore less prone to aphid attack but they haven't come back so far. Please note, I know very little about gardening and even less about aubergines so you may not want to listen to me :snork:

Thank you both  I realised after I had posted that I should have clarified about spraying in the conservatory. I did take the aubergine plant outside to spray it but was thinking about maybe having to repeat treatments and perhaps not being able to take plant outside when I needed to, ie raining. I bought a spray from local garden centre and it seems to have done the trick. I was wondering though if the aphids will spread to my other plants ( tomatoes and basil ) although can't see anything yet.

Lindsay, did you use ordinary tap water to spray your plants with or rainwater? I don't know very much about gardening either, you probably know more than me!

Just tap water, although it is usually warm from sitting in the greenhouse. My aubies seem to really appreciate the increase in humidity.
