As July's competiton was successful, we will have a photo competition for August. Please follow guidelines below :-

    1. Entries to be submitted by 23.59H on the 31st August 2005.

    2. Pictures are to be taken during summer 2005 (no winter, spring or autumn pic please).

    3. There will not be a prize, only the self satisfaction that you have entered (I will stress, this is what you, the users have decided)

    4. I would like to limit the number of pics you can enter to three (3).

    5. Pictures are to be of the theme 'Visitors to the garden' (this obviously can be pests as well).

    6. Please post your pics within this thread for entry into the competition.

    7. The winner will be decided by me and my other half and announced within the week after the competition .

Please note, this is mostly for fun, BUT, it is also a chance for you to show off your photography skills.

    GOOD LUCK.

    Nathan.

    As an addition ......

As suggested by Charlie, which I think is a sterling idea !!

The competitors will have a say in the end result, so there will be a 'Users Vote'

    Guidelines below:-

    1. Competitors cannot vote for any of their own photographs.

    2. Competitors vote on a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place basis with 1st place carrying 5 points 2nd place 3 points and 3rd place 1 point - The photograph with the most votes wins etc etc.

    3. Competitors votes should not be cast until after the competition closes and be in before 11.59pm two days after the competition closes.

All members of the forum get a vote, not just those who've submitted pictures.

These Garrya tassels visit my garden every February.

Stretching the subject a bit I know, but my hummingbird moth photo isn't sharp enough, he wouldn't hover still for long enough).

Can't find an edit. I've just read the rules so scratch that last one and I'll try a summer picture instead.

I don't know where he came from, the cat bought him in.

Aww bless! He's so cute! Your tassels are quite impressive, if I had a bigger garden I'd want one. Steve I like your birds too. If my robin will keep still for long enough I'll put a picture of him up!

about the hummingbird moth, i had one in my garden last year on my sweet peas. i had no idea what it was and i just stood mesmerized by it as i have never seen anything like it before. i had to go on the net to try and find it. i live near elgin on the moray coast so i was surprised to see it this far north.
havent seen it this year which is sad.
what did you do with the rabbit in the end ?

That is a long way north. I'm 5 minutes walk from the south coast. I saw 3 on holiday on France last month, all different varieties. This was the one in my conservatory.

As for the bunny. I buried it.

I gave it to an animal recovery centre. It lasted two days, was eating and drinking then on day two was found dead in its box.
