august veg

    im new to gardening and very keen and enjoying it immensly . looking to grow veg from august on so that we have some later in the yr , not bothered what as it all helps in the learning curve all help gratefull. thanx adam.:lollol:

    Hi! It might be worth buying some plugs from Suttons, Thompson and Morgan or somewhere else. I don't think you can do much otherwise, unless you go for rocket, turnips, radishes, perpetual spinach and other salady stuff.

    Oh, and there is a swede called champion redtop, I think, which can go in till August, but, I've only found one place that sells them, http://www.realseeds.co.uk/ but the P and P isn't worth it for one pack.

    From seed you can sow lettuce for another couple of months also carrots for a late crop provided you sow them this week.

    You can sow spring greens until the end of August which will be ready next March time (I grow a variety called Offenham 2 which I can recommend)

    Buying young plants from the graden centre is another option:
    Winter cabbage, sprouts and broccoli.
    Its not too late to plant leeks either.

    You'd be alright with peas, and Pak Choi.
    You'd be ok with lots of things.

    Spring onions, beetroots... kohl rabi you can still plant now...
