Got me a set of Bayliss auto vent openers, only trouble is that they do not open. This is a problem with only this new greenhouse which is 8 x 8 at the top of the garden. Try though I may to set the darn things to open when it heats up, NO they just sit in the closed position.
Any help which can be offered would do, they have also gone past their return date so no help in that dept.
At present I have removed them and gone back to the manual openers till I can resolve the matter.

Sounds like the cylinders have leaked, how long have you had them.

No leakage as tested and work under pressure. 13 months now and have contacted the company to no avail.

You can replace just the cylinders if that is the problem, I've done most of mine, some more than once.

Will give this a go and see what happens thanks. Mind you they do open on cooler days and close again, it seems to be the warmer the day the less they work.

Have you got a picture of the set up.
If they are expanding and contracting then there must be something wrong with the mechanism or, dare i say it, how it's fixed.

No picture as been removed for now. I had installed them as per the destruction's supplied, but it seems that they just want to do their own thing. I may have to reinvest.
Sorry was attacked by this ginormous JAFFA, had to go in with all teeth gnashing.

Just a thought but are the vents heavy, or above the weight that the openers specify.

They maybe, the type are XL and seem weighty for the window. But will open at 16 deg C and not above 20 though.

When you say they open at 16 but not at 20, do you mean they only open a small amount and never fully whatever the temperature.

Have you got the adjuster screwed fully on.

I have tried to tighten all the way in and all the way out to no avail, but when it opened the unit opened all the way to leave the window about 60 degrees angle at the fullest extent. at both cooler and cold.

I think you need new cylinders they don't last more than 5 years I find, but yours must have leaked at some point, its not like you see it happening. Or possibly the seal on the plunger is allowing oil to pass it.

I've never tried the ones you have I have the mk 7,and apart from replacing cylinders all 5 of mine have been good.
