This is a normal state of woodland right now!! yep green trees (leaves are falling green but some remain), now most other places had wonderful colours this year, and most trees are now bare... or brown. Why does Wirral always miss out on Autumn?? :O

The leaves truly do fall green here and have done since I was a kid. Sometimes trees will hang onto their leave into December..

it's a real shame we don't see Autumn colours here :(

My personal thoughts are the autumn colours have been the worst for years around here.

I think its been too wet and dull this year for the trees to colour up properly.
Why it never happens in the Wirral is a mystery to me, but I think you need dry soil, cool nights with no frost, and bright sunny days to get a good autumn colour.

    Not forgetting, no gales.

Well Pete, we have the first three, sandy soil, no frost, but our climate here is very cloudy in Autumn, so the lack of sunshine may well account for this.. This year certainly, damp ground thanks to the wet summer and Autumn and lack of sunshine generally, confounds this somewhat.

The trees here on the island have been absolutely stunning, it's the best I've seen them and after a dreadful year. The island has high rainfall anyway, so I don't think it's anything to do with the weather being dull and wet.

The trees up our way are stunning too. Best autumn display I've seen in a long long time. To such an extent that in the last week or so, while out and about, I've asked myself why some people spend a lot of time and effort with Japanese themed gardens for their autumn colour when our native trees put on an equally good display.

I'm not sure why it is. Its been as soggy here as anywhere else this year.

Well things started out looking good here in September, but then it turned wet the last week and since then its been nothing like as good as the preceding three years, when it has been dry for the whole of autumn.
I was just basing what I said on that.:dunno::)
