Is it just me, or does Autumn seem to start earlier every year.
Here we are just passed mid August and I cant help thinking summer is just a memory. It was good for the short time it lasted.
A few pictures that tend to make me think summer has gone.

And today I dug some of my pink fir apple potatoes, the tops were dying and I wanted to get some out before the forecast rain.

    Now that is autumn.:)

The Met office seems to set the seasons now. Lets put them back under the control of the War Office,:lollol::lollol::lollol::gnthb:

I prefer to think of this time as high summer, although things do seem to have been brought forwards by the drought/floods/storms/coldest winter for 30 years/coalition government etc.

Seen hawthorn berries starting to ripen today, that should be in late september :autlv:

Sorry pete, meant to say great pics & a fantastic haul of pink fir apples there. Still got our maincrop of them in down my sisters plot, put em in the brick cold frames this year to avoid the blight spores.

I guess much of it is weather orientated, if it was still hot and sunny it would still be summer.
But the nights are drawing in, not seen any crane flies yet.

If we had a war office, we`d have full employment, AND proper seasons. And we`d be a world power again.:lollol::lollol::old:

No, not autumn yet Pete, not quite, but it is late summer - we're well through August.
Great Pink Fir Apples - mine did great too.
And take heart - in a good year autumn can go on and on. Here's hoping for this year.

I've not seen a brick one before Ziggy.

I like that kind of place, slightly untidy:lollol:
